Position Overview
We are seeking a highly competent Junior Accountant with 2–3 years of experience in high-growth tech sectors such as SaaS, Data Acquisition, Fintech, IT Services, or Field Operations Management. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, experience managing multi-stream revenues and field agent disbursements, and the ability to maintain compliance with Nigerian financial and tax regulations. This role reports to the Finance Lead / Head of Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date financial records for all operational entities, ensuring proper documentation and filing in line with statutory requirements.
- Track and reconcile recurring revenue streams, SaaS subscriptions, API usage billing, and project-based consulting contracts in compliance with IFRS 15.
- Oversee and reconcile daily disbursements and payouts to nationwide field data collection agents and vendor networks.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management accounts, and variance analyses against operational budgets.
- Compute, file, and remit all applicable taxes (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE) ensuring timely compliance with FIRS, FCTIRS and Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).
- Perform daily reconciliation of multiple bank accounts, digital payment gateways, and corporate wallets, generating daily cash position reports for management.
- Assist in tracking capitalization vs. expense allocation for internal technology development costs.
- Coordinate project accounting and financial reporting for government and non-profit/NGO grants or consultancy contracts.
- Assist internal and external auditors by preparing necessary ledgers, audit schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain internal control procedures, flag operational cost anomalies, and recommend process improvements to safeguard company assets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 2–3 years of post-qualification accounting experience, ideally within SaaS, Technology, Market Research, Fintech, or Data/Field Operations sectors.
- Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, or part-qualified stage) is a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS standards, Nigerian tax laws (FIRS/LIRS), and technology sector financial controls.
- Hands-on proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books, or ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and ability to manage high-volume transactions.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with SaaS revenue recognition models and usage-based billing structures.
- Familiarity with mobile money platforms and payment gateway reconciliations for high-volume field operations.
- Understanding of project accounting for donor-funded grants or public-sector tech projects.
