Key Responsibilities
Receive, label and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
Perform routine and specialized chemical analyses using approved test methods.
Conduct laboratory testing on water, wastewater, food, industrial products and other environmental samples as assigned.
Prepare reagents, standard solutions and calibration standards.
Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and analytical equipment.
Record, interpret and report analytical results accurately and within specified turnaround times.
Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, laboratory quality procedures and standard operating procedures.
Participate in method validation, verification and quality control activities.
Maintain accurate laboratory records, worksheets and test reports.
Monitor laboratory inventory and communicate reagent and consumable requirements.
Ensure proper housekeeping and safe handling, storage and disposal of laboratory chemicals and wastes.
Support internal audits, external audits and accreditation activities.
Educational Qualification
Minimum of a B.Sc. or HND in Industrial Chemistry. Post degree qualifications are highly preferred
Candidates with degrees in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or closely related disciplines may also be considered; however, Industrial Chemistry is highly preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 1–3 years laboratory experience in an environmental, industrial, research or quality control laboratory.
Experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory is an added advantage.
