JOB TITLE: Hydrologist/ Water Engineer
LOCATION: Apapa, Lagos State
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Hydrologist, you will be tasked to study, monitor, manage, protect and design systems for water resources. You will be required to research, develop and maintain safe and sustainable domestic or natural water management strategy and flood risk management.
DUTIES
1. Measure water levels, and collect soil & water samples to test for pollution or contamination
2. Record and analyse water resource systems data
3. Develop systems to predict and monitor water yields and usage, flood risks, and the impact of climate change/ construction on water systems
4. Employ statistical and hydrological modelling techniques
5. Plan and design water management infrastructure, including flood defenses, drainage systems, dams, and wastewater facilities
6. Determine the most effective water management methods
7. Manage storm water, and develop strategies for water conservation and sustainable usage
8. Assess the impact of environmental changes and land use changes
9. Prepare technical reports, analyse environmental data, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
10. Liaise with clients, consultants. Water regulators, researchers, external bodies and other professionals
QUALIFICATION
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering , Geography or Earth Sciences is required
2. A Postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage
3. Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience
SKILLS
1. Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems, CAD software, and Statistical Modelling Software
2. Ability to conduct on-site data collection involving challenging weather conditions
3. Report Writing and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences
4. Mathematical skills and efficient Computing ability
