The Account and Finance Officer is responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, preparing financial reports, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s financial planning and budgeting processes
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Record Keeping
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
· Prepare journal entries, general ledger postings, and bank reconciliations.
· Track income, expenses, payables, and receivables.
2. Financial Reporting
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
· Generate management reports to support decision-making.
· Analyze financial data and highlight trends, variances, and risks.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
· Assist in preparing annual budgets and cash flow forecasts.
· Monitor budget performance and report variances to management.
· Support financial planning processes for projects and operations.
4. Accounts Payable & Receivable
· Process invoices, payments, receipts, and requisitions.
· Manage vendor accounts and ensure timely settlements.
· Follow up on outstanding receivables.
5. Compliance & Audit
· Ensure financial operations comply with relevant regulations and standards.
· Support internal and external audit exercises.
· Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and regulatory filings.
6. Payroll & Statutory Deductions
· Prepare monthly payroll and ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions (PAYE, Pension, NHF, etc.).
· Maintain employee compensation records.
7. Financial Controls
· Implement and maintain effective internal control systems.
· Safeguard company assets through proper documentation and verification.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA or in-view) is an added advantage.
· Minimum of 2–5 years relevant experience in accounting or finance roles.
· Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho, etc.).
· Strong analytical, numerical, and organizational skills.
· Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
