About the Organization:
INITIATIVES FOR DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT FOR ALL (IDEA-INTERNATIONAL) is a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental, and humanitarian organization established in 2020. As the name implies, this organization aims to take proactive initiatives to support and empower women, men, girls, and boys concerning  factors that affect their physical, emotional, social, economic, and psychological or psychosocial health and well-being.

 

IDEA-INTERNATIONAL’s overarching vision is to make communities safe and healthy places to live. A key focus of the organization is to prioritize health, community health as well as reproductive health education, particularly among the most vulnerable populations. Additionally, IDEA-INTERNATIONAL is dedicated to preventing or eradicating all forms of violence against women and girls by actively working to enhance gender equality within homes and communities. IDEA international implements education programs including STEM Education for women and girls. IDEA International Nigeria is seeking a committed and experienced candidate for the position of Country Director.

JOB SUMMARY: The Country Director will be directly responsible for the overall strategic planning, human resources management, program design and implementation, program support operations, finance, administration, compliance and accountability systems, resource mobilization and management, S/he will represent the organization at all levels and liaise with local and national authorities, UN and UN agencies, NGO, and donor agencies, to promote the organization’s programs, facilitate successful coordination of activities and ensure transparency and accountability to all stakeholders at the national, state and local levels, The Country Director will play a strong leadership role through a high level of strategic leadership and effective advocacy. S/he will be ultimately accountable for all aspects of the country projects and ensuring that organizational setup is adapted to the operational context.

In carrying out his/role, the CD must set an example of ethical behavior as described in the organization’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and ensure compliance throughout the organization as well as to IDEA International’s policies, including the Safeguarding Policy and the Protection from Harassment, Bullying and Sexual Misconduct in the Workplace Policy, consistently and fairly; support employees who in good faith raise questions or concerns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

·         Typically, a Master’s degree in business, health or social service related field. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

·         Typically, 3-4 years proven progressive and significant experience in humanitarian programs and/or emergency response, mainly in the Community health, protection, education, etc; including at least 2 years of project management experience (management, planning, staff development and training), skills in emergency/ development programs; including at least 2 years of experience in a senior-level management position in a field-based post.

·         Comprehensive knowledge and working experience with USAID/BHA/OFDA, CDC, UN, World Bank, EU, DFID and other key donors including Private donors.

·         Financial management acumen, including managing budgets, banking activities, contracts and negotiations

·         Extensive fundraising and representational experience.

·         Experience managing procurement and logistical procedures and policies.

·         Knowledge in program sustainability and capacity building, public or private partnerships and project monitoring and evaluation – both quantitative and qualitative methods.

·         S/he should be committed to gender equity, empowering management practices, be values driven and possess human resources management skills

·         Strong writing, presentation and program development skills.

·         Strong negotiation, interpersonal and organization skills.

·         S/he will have the perspectives and competencies for fundraising and donor relations;

·         The candidate must have excellent communication skills.
