Job Summary:
The Secondary School Mathematics Teacher delivers engaging and comprehensive instruction that develops learners’ mathematical understanding, problem-solving abilities, and analytical thinking. The role requires effective classroom management, commitment to academic excellence, and alignment with Greenland Hall’s vision of nurturing well-rounded learners in character and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
– Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons following the approved curriculum (Nigerian and/or British).
– Teach across multiple grade levels in the secondary section (JSS–SSS) as assigned.
– Design and administer classwork, homework, quizzes, and examinations to assess learning outcomes.
– Provide timely and constructive feedback to learners and parents on academic performance.
– Support learners in preparing for external examinations such as BECE, WAEC, and IGCSE.
– Incorporate technology and real-life applications to make Mathematics relatable and engaging.
– Identify and assist learners with learning gaps or challenges in Mathematics.
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date academic records, lesson notes, and assessment data.
– Participate actively in departmental and staff meetings, workshops, and school programs.
– Uphold school policies, discipline standards, and professional ethics.
Qualifications & Experience:
– Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field.
Teaching qualification (PGDE, TRCN certification, or equivalent) is required.
– Minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience in a recognized secondary school.
– Strong familiarity with the Nigerian and British (Key Stage 3–5) curricula.
– Proficiency in the use of digital learning tools and online platforms.
