Job Vacancy: Fleet Officer
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Officer with strong mechanical capability to take full responsibility for the repair, maintenance, and readiness of all mobile assets. This role is hands-on and suited to someone who understands vehicles, trailers, and mobile equipment and can take ownership of keeping them safe, reliable, and deployment-ready at all times.
Key Responsibilities
1.Handle and supervise mechanical repairs on all mobile assets including vehicles, trailers, HIAB trucks, and towable equipment.
2.Diagnose faults, carry out minor to medium repairs, and coordinate major repairs with approved workshops.
3.Ensure all mobile assets are mechanically sound, safe, and ready for deployment at all times.
4.Implement and enforce preventive maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns.
5.Respond to breakdowns and emergencies during deployment or transit.
6.Inspect trailers, hubs, brakes, suspension systems, tyres, lighting, and towing components regularly.
7.Ground any asset that is unsafe or mechanically unfit until properly repaired.
8.Manage external mechanics and service providers and verify quality of work done.
9.Ensure valid licenses, insurance, and roadworthiness documentation for all assets.
10.Monitor and control repair costs, spare parts usage, and maintenance expenses.
11.Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and repair records.
12.Support safe loading, towing, and movement of equipment across sites.
Requirements
HND or BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience managing and repairing fleet or mobile assets.
Strong practical knowledge of vehicles, trailers, hubs, braking systems, and towing mechanics.
Proven ability to diagnose faults and prevent repeat breakdowns.
Good understanding of road safety and vehicle compliance requirements.
Ability to work independently, take ownership, and make firm safety decisions.
