Job Summary
Reliable Steel and Plastic Industry Limited is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Officer with a minimum of one (1) year post-NYSC experience to join our finance team in Onitsha. The ideal candidate must have a solid understanding of accounting principles and strong practical knowledge of accounts payable operations within a structured organization.
Key Responsibilities
· Process, verify, and record supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
· Prepare and process payments (cash, cheque, bank transfers) in line with company policies
· Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepancies promptly
· Maintain proper documentation and filing of all accounts payable records
· Post transactions into accounting ledgers and accounting software
· Assist with monthly and year-end financial closing activities
· Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations (VAT, WHT), and internal controls
· Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation
· Monitor outstanding payables and manage payment schedules efficiently
· Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding payment issues
Requirements & Qualifications
· B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
· NYSC completed with at least one (1) year post-NYSC work experience
· Strong understanding of general accounting and accounts payable functions
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
· Good knowledge of Nigerian taxation basics (VAT, WHT)
· High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Must be willing and available to work in Onitsha
Added Advantage
· Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA – partly or fully qualified)
· Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
