Communication Officer

Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Digital Visibility & Social Media Management
Develop and implement a digital communication strategy to increase online visibility.
Manage and grow the organisation’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
Create and schedule engaging posts, videos, graphics, and stories.
Monitor analytics and insights to improve content performance and engagement.
Respond to comments, messages, and audience interactions in a timely manner.
2. Content Creation
Produce high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content for web, social media, newsletters, and reports.
Write blog posts, press releases, success stories, donor stories, and speeches.
Work with program teams to gather field information, photos, and testimonials.
Ensure all content aligns with the organisation’s messaging and brand identity.
3. Brand & Public Relations
Maintain and update the organisation’s website and digital platforms.
Develop communication materials such as brochures, flyers, fact sheets, and presentations.
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists.
Assist in organising and promoting events, campaigns, and community outreach programs.
4. Internal Communication & Reporting
Support the documentation of project activities and achievements.
Prepare monthly communication reports and content calendars.
Ensure effective internal communication across teams and departments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Social Sciences, or related field.
Experience working with NGOs or development organisations (preferred but not required).
1–3 years’ experience in communications, content creation, or digital marketing.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in social media management tools (Buffer, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, etc.).
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Ability to create basic graphic designs using Canva, Photoshop, or similar tools.
Experience with photography, videography, and video editing (e.g., CapCut, Premiere Pro) is an added advantage.
Familiarity with web content management (e.g., WordPress) is a plus.
