Job Summary:

 

The Storekeeper is responsible for the day-to-day management of the project site store, ensuring proper receipt, storage, protection, and issuance of construction materials, tools, and equipment. The storekeeper plays a vital role in supporting site operations by maintaining organized and accurate records of all stock items.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Receiving & Inspection:

 

Receive materials and tools delivered to site and verify them against delivery notes and purchase orders.

 

Inspect items for damage or discrepancies and report any issues immediately.

 

Tag and label materials for easy identification.

 

 

Storage Management:

 

Store materials in an orderly, safe, and accessible manner.

 

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store to ensure easy access and prevent damage or loss.

 

Follow site safety and handling procedures, especially for hazardous materials.

 

 

Issuance of Materials:

 

Issue materials to engineers, technicians, and artisans based on approved request forms.

 

Record all materials issued in stock registers or digital inventory systems.

 

Monitor daily usage of consumables and frequently used items.

 

 

Stock Records & Reporting:

 

Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records (ledger, bin cards, or software).

 

Assist in conducting regular stock counts and reconciliations.

 

Submit daily or weekly reports on stock levels, material movement, and pending requests.

 

 

Security & Loss Prevention:

 

Ensure the store is always locked and access is controlled.

 

Prevent theft, pilferage, or unauthorized use of materials and equipment.

 

Report any suspicious activity or stock irregularities immediately.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

SSCE/OND/NCE or equivalent in Business Administration, Store Management, or related field.

 

Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience in a construction or industrial setting.

 

Familiarity with construction materials and site operations.

 

Good record-keeping and organizational skills.

 

Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Excel or inventory software is a plus).

 

Ability to work under pressure and follow instructions.
