Mife Construction provides a broad spectrum of engineering services which include the building of roads, bridges, and civil works on oil drilling locations. Mife Construction is a multi-disciplinary engineering contractor with a number of heavy civil engineering projects throughout the country.
As a result of expansion in the activities of this company we now have an opening for career minded Community Relations Manager, to join our existing project team.
Position: COMMUNITY RELATIONS MANAGER
Job Description and Duties
This critical Community Relations position is being created in response to the growing need to strengthen our internal capacity in Community Relations and to enhance the integration of socially responsible construction and dredging practices across the organisation. Key to this function is the ability to interact with people from a range of functions across the organisation, at all levels, from Corporate to Regional Business Units (RBUs) in order to strengthen our global performance.
In addition, the Community Relations Officer would be required to:
* Provide advisory support to functional groups, as well as RBUs and sites, to address key social challenges and improve management practices;
* Provide expert advice and support for the development and implementation of CSR/CR strategy, management systems, tools and resources.
* Provide advice and support on resettlement and operational issues in the community
* Provide support for the development of site level monitoring and evaluation frameworks to enable better measurement of impact and effectiveness.
* Undertake site level social performance reviews (or support the conduct of this by independent reviewers/auditors) to drive continuous improvement;
* Represent the company to external stakeholders and contribute to the development and implementation of the company’s external engagement program
Experience & Requirements:
* HND or BSC in Public Relations / Social Sciences / International Relations and Personnel Management (IRPM) with proven practical working and field experience in Issue Resolution, Negotiation and Conflict Management in Nigeria or Abroad
* Masters Degree, or equivalent, in relevant area will be an added advantage
* Not less than 30 years of age
* Extensive, proven experience working on social issues, and with host communities, in a construction context is mandatory for this role; 5-7 years minimum
* Knowledge of CSR standards and institutions, particularly those related to extractive industries;
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Packages, Internet etc.
